 Tchando's Lyrics

MANSA - The King
"African leaders of today, your task is one of the most complicated in the world. You must brace yourselves well in order to lift and carry the weight. Remember, when your people are happy, all credit goes to you, but when they are not...? Mansas (kings) of Africa: Our children deserve a better education so that they can build themselves a future as well as a future for the country. Knowledge is the best weapon we have against the misery."

CORDA - The Family Unit
In this song, the family unit, Corda, is a symbol of the whole of Africa: "This big family can only succeed with mutual help, understanding and tolerance. We must recognize and accept our differences; it is these differences that make our culture so rich. Let's show the world what we've got"
Africa is beautiful!
Africa is beautiful!

NIMA
A traditional fairy tale from Guinea Bissau: Cira, a beautiful young girl, secretly falls in love with the giant fish Nima.
This fish, tragically, is killed by N'Doba, a man chosen by Cira's parents as her future husband. Nevertheless, Cira still believes that Nima will come back one day. Every day she goes to the sea, singing for Nima. Until one day when Nima suddenly rises from the waves and takes Cira into his kingdom, deep down in the sea.

BURAMA
"Willi, willi ye lo Buraima Guei!" - Get up, stand up, Buraima Guei! Buraima Guei is my nephew, a young man who to me symbolises the African youth. The youth is the hope of a country, but in Africa, often neglected. Buraima is worried about his future, he often wonders how he can find a way to move forward. I encourage him: "Keep the faith, Buraima! We all must fight for our achievements. Be strong and know that things don't come easy."

LUN BA - Big Day
This is a song about overcoming your inhibitions and expressing your true feelings. A young man is deeply in love with a beautiful girl from the nearby village called Mariama. But he has never had the courage to tell her. Now, tomorrow will be the "Big Day" for him. It is the day he has decided to overcome his shyness and declare his love for her. So, he persuades his sister Binto to wash and iron his clothes for him so that he can look his best - for his "Big Day".

MIRALAL - The Wise Men
Miralal is a mandinka word for "the men that think". This is a song in memory of all the "Wise Men" of the world but in particular dedicated to controversial thinkers like Krume Nkrumah, Patrice Lumumba, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi, Amilcar Cabral, and more. People of their time never understood what they were talking about - or people didn't want to understand. But these 'Miralal' should not be forgotten.
Let's pray for them.
